With the festive season on its way Bournemouth town centre is getting ready for an influx of seasonal visitors. The popular Christmas Tree Wonderland
is due to have another successful year as it returns on 15th November; with the only possible dampener on Christmas cheer being potential wet weather. So crowds will be delighted to hear that A Very Victorian Christmas
is coming to the covered canopy of Westover Road.
The historic Westover Road features an intricate, traditional canopy to sheltering the exclusive independent businesses; it’s both beautiful in design and ideal for avoiding the rain. Located just opposite Bournemouth’s Lower Gardens, where much of Christmas Tree Wonderland
is held, it’s the ideal location for a Victorian-themed spectacular of entertainment and unique shopping.
With a host of fun scheduled this year, Christmas activities and events will begin between 10:30 – 16:00 on Saturday 30th November and each following Saturday in December (7th, 14th and 21st). Victorian themed characters, including stilt walkers, living statues, penny-farthing riders and Christmas carolers will be just some of the roving entertainment featured every Saturday. And for truly roving entertainment, the Rimski’s bicycle piano is a unique music and theatre act on wheels.
The Victorian themed event will highlight the unique businesses on Westover Road, home of independent art, fashion and food. Venues will have in store activities such as calligraphy, Victorian dressing up and Dickensian-themed storytelling that will delight children.Westover Gallery
, Bournemouth’s largest independent art gallery, have been trading on Westover Road for over 15 years. Sales Director of Westover Gallery, Ally Webb, who is also on the Board of Directors of Bournemouth Coastal BID, is thrilled to see the road take part in Bournemouth’s Christmas celebrations.
Alongside the Bournemouth Coastal BID, the event is being managed by Thirty 12 Events LTD, an experienced, local event management company responsible for the delivery of numerous community events including Motors by the Sea, the Boscombe Summer Games, Christmas light switch on, and Christmas activities in Southbourne, Westbourne and Boscombe.
