The story behind the artwork:

A contemporary, fine art Limited Edition print, radiant with Kristjana’s appreciation for the phenomenon that is nature. The world is a show garden, bursting with an astonishing bouquet of rainbow-coloured life forms. As myriad shades of light slant over the map, graphically beautiful animals and insects are brought in to focus. They pose in shapes that build the contours of countries and continents, spanning this unique world map. Some, like the cougar in the Andes and the elephant in Guinea, stand aloft in their native lands. Others, like the Emperor penguin in Nunavut or the Eurasian badger in Siberia, leap beyond their normal confines to experience far away places. Many are adorned with jewel encrusted crowns, extravagant headdresses and lavish plumage. Kristjana’s creatures show signs of triumphing over adversity, by means of evolution. The subtle rainbow shading of the piece speaks of the importance of diversity and is a celebration of difference.
