The Floral Branch Landscape Japanese Wood Cut Exploration by Kristjana S Williams.
The Floral Branch Landscape a Japanese woodcut exploration is part of a trio. For years Kristjana collected books on Japanese woodcuts and silk printing. Everything about the style appeals to the graceful graphical sensibilities their personal features and moods, no one in Kristjana's eyes does landscapes better and their intricacy of carving are considered miracles of sculpture. In 1853 four USA ships steamed into the harbour of Uraga and forced Japan to open up their ancient guarded country to the rigour of international trade with hated foreigners. After various internal struggles the Japanese decided to adopt western technology to compete. The collage here is a series of landscape studies re-imagined with reworked mountain and traditional victorian engravings.
