About Bob Dylan

If you think the name sounds familiar then you are correct, born Robert Allen Zimmerman, Bob Dylan is an American singer and songwriter, artist and author most famously known for his contribution to popular music and for his songs including “Blowin’ in the Wind”and “The Times they are a-changin’”. However in recent years Dylan has turned his focus to visual art and since 1994 has created seven books of his work, as well as having his work displayed in some of the most establish art galleries in the world including, Gagosian Gallery, National Portrait Gallery and Halcyon Gallery. 

The Start of Bob Dylan’s Artwork

Bob Dylan started his art career after creating numerous collections of drawing whilst travelling on tour which were later discovered by Ingrid Mössinger in 2006. After being excited by the drawings Mössinger contacted Dylan’s team, who agreed to have his art exhibited in public for the first time. Dylan’s original purpose of the drawings was to create painting based upon them and after Mössinger proposed the art exhibition it encouraged Dylan to now turn the drawings into painting using watercolour and gouache.
