The story behind the artwork:

A contemporary and uplifting, fine art Limited Edition print paying homage to humble postage stamps and their improbable trajectory up and over maps of the world, making connections as they go. Here, stamps and maps are hand in hand, telling infinite stories about all of the people, places and lives that they encounter. The edges of the stamp give the illusion of floating above a light grey backdrop, mirroring the movement of the stamp as it travels. The map has been shrunk down and encapsulated on the surface of a tiny stamp that belies the abundance of life that it holds. Just a little piece of paper, yet so powerful, connecting people and places without boundaries. Graphically beautiful animals and insects pose in shapes that build the contours of their homelands; wallabies in Australia, cougars in the Andes and Macaque monkeys in South Asia. Across the whole piece, a subtle shift through the colours of the rainbow signifies acceptance of difference. In Iceland, Kristjana has experienced the powerful, unifying force of the Pride Festival, attended by almost the entire population. The connections we make with the rest of the world are vital to promoting unity and acceptance.
