A series of three Japanese landscape studies based upon original Japanese woodcuts and combined with traditional Victorian engravings in Kristjana’s trademark collage technique. 

A myriad of colour assaults the senses as you gaze from the window of an ancient dwelling upon a fantastical Japanese landscape. Leaves of maple and fronds of blossom frame the view, out and beyond to a world that is at once familiar and alien. The Japanese lands are permeated with scenes from northern Europe - brooding snow capped mountains, a spewing volcano and creatures of the ice that skirt the mirror-like glacial waters. Sense the searing heat, the icy chill, the vibrations and the sounds that all echo through the spherical tableau. It’s a cacophony of cultures, yet as you look up and into the horizon, the mood-reflective skies are the work of the ancient Japanese masters
