Jimi is dressed as a ‘lutenist’ playing a typical Renaissance ‘Lute’. The twist is that the head of the Lute is broken and on fire, this refers to his need to stand out and gain attention, as he finished his performance of ‘fire’ at a concert in the US, Hendrix doused his 1965 Fender Stratocaster guitar in lighter fluid and set it on fire.
