The first specimen tray was created for Harrods in 2017 and they have evolved and proved very populars, with no two trays the same, demand still remains hight. With these stunning and contemporary 3D specimen trays, Kristjana captures the antiquated spirit of the original butterfly specimen trays, but in conservation-friendly, filigree-fine paper form.
As in nature, every tray is unique. Each ornate, colour-popping specimen has been designed, printed, carefully cut, folded, layered, then pinned in place. Emphasising the narrative of the uncompromised beauty of nature, the trays also feature a ‘hero animal’, selected for its perfect evolution and adaptation to its environment. The winged head-dresses hint at their ability to evolve even further should the need arise. A banner with Kristjana S William’s signature completes the piece, a stamp of authenticity for your original artwork
