Damir May is an internationally renowned artist who currently lives and works in Vienna, Austria.
He graduated from the Angel Academy of Art in Florence, Italy. The Academy teaches methods passed down through the centuries, from Renaissance to the late nineteenth century ateliers that taught such great painters as Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Caravaggio, Velasquez, Rembrandt, Lord Leighton, Alma-Tadema, Bouguereau, Pietro Annigoni and Michael John Angel, his teacher.
Damir's work can be found in art collections through out the world, including His Royal Highness Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, His Imperial Highness Prince Akishino of Japan, Angel Academy of Art, Fred Ross, Chairman of Art Renewal Centar.
The works of Damir May are distinguished by an excellent knowledge of human anatomy, high quality in execution and an understanding of merging between form and content.
The range of drawing effects that Damir manages to obtain with charcoal, thereby creating true artistic magic on paper, is quite simply amazing. His drawings are executed with excellent precision and are amazingly tangible.
"The human body is the greatest perfection to exist in nature and it is the most demanding to express. I am not exclusively into nudes, but I am very interested in figuration, and the human body in space. I want to rid my work of every redundancy. I try to live and create by discovering a balance between mind, eye, and sentiments. My hand just listens to what my imagination and feelings tell it to do says the artist.
