Born in Liverpool, O’Brien went to school at St Margaret’s in Aigburth, in his early years football was his passion, captaining his school football team and playing against players such as Steve McManaman and Robbie Fowler amongst others.
During a holiday in the 1990’s in Barcelona, whilst visiting the various tourist attractions he visited Antoni Gaudi’s Park Guell which is where his passion for mosaic art was first founded.
David O’Brien likes to make mosaic’s that are influenced by his own passions such as iconic music album covers, fine works of art, rare racing cars, vintage style posters and Pop art. A recent addition to his portfolio of work is more sculptural mosaics which are fast becoming a hit with collectors across the U.K. His attention to detail, discipline and patience are paramount in producing each artwork. Every mosaic work is totally original, unique and made with great attention to detail. O’Brien is not happy unless he is happy himself to display each completed work in his own home. He love’s each and every stage from the initial idea through to completion but often changing things as he goes.
Now living in rural Bickerstaffe in Lancashire, married to Kim and Dad of Lawrie and Olivia, David O’Brien’s artwork is now going from strength to strength and he is being exhibited by a wide variety of galleries and held in private collections across the country.
