Drew Darcy moved to Birmingham from Shrewbury and successfully completed a BTEC National Diploma in Art & Design at Bourneville Art College. After a stint in a guitatr band, he threw myself into his art and dedicated all his time into developing his own unique style.
History and Background
Drew Darcy can remember drawing from an early age, and was first introduced to oil painting at Stonyhurst College, Lancashire. He revelled in the fact that he could make his indelible mark on his own canvas, just like the great painters before him. Hundreds of hours were spent in the 'Art Room', where he learnt many of the techniques he uses today.
Ideas and Inspirations
Music, fashion, modern design, film, photography, advertising, and his ever-changing moods are some of the many subjects that can spark Drew's creative process. He admires many artists; Gerhard Richter, Francis Bacon, and Edward Hopper to name but a few. He likes to take in artistic flavours from his favourite artists, absorb them and throw them all back in to the mix to make his own distinctive style.
