Natalie Shau is based in Lithuania, a photographer and mixed media artist Natalie fuses inspirations from nature and fashion to create captivating portraiture.
Natalie loves creating mysterious ghostly portraits. With nature playing a big part in her work including flowers, wind, the skies, insects and animals all of which can be found in her illustrations. In times cgone past, the forces of nature have also been an inspiration.
Natalie's other passions are antique jewellery and her third biggest inspiration is fashion; From Modern to historical costumes.
In these three works, Natalie ha to combine all her three inspirations in one art piece.
According to folklore and stories throughout history, many gemstones are thought to have healing and mysterious properties, rare as they are have inspired philosophers and mystics to attribute unusual powers to these special minerals.
To create such portraiture as this debut collection, Natalie takes dozens of photographs to capture movement and how light reflects on the hair. With the background being darker or lighter to contrast with specific hair colour. After that, she combines the photographs and create the hair halo using photos and digital brushes before she works on the head of a character, all small jewels and details.
